System topology
Standalone system
When using the simplest system connection the system can operate only in the standalone operating mode. The reader modules are not connected to a BUS. The standalone mode is appropriate wherever often update of access rights or access rights management by a PC is not required. The access rights distribution is performed with a couple of master cards. In effect the mode is usable only for a small number of users (family houses, small companies, remote workplaces, etc.).
Advantages and disadvantages
- no need of computer, simple and quick administration with master cards
- cannot change parameters of readers, confusing administration of more users, loosing a card leads to erasing the access rights and uploading them again
Managing the system with a computer
The system can be managed with one of the administration programs. The solution requires connecting the APS mini modules on the RS 485 BUS. For a connection to a PC an appropriate communication conveter (TCP/IP, USB, RS 232) is required.
APS Home
The APS Home can be used for the APS mini system management. It provides resources to manage the access rights comfortly and to set up all the functional parameters of the APS mini modules. The application allows to use combined APS mini and APS mini Plus systems.
In the offline operating mode the communication is in progress only when configuring the parameters and uploading access rights. This mode is a typical solution for apartment houses with up to 748 users, where no need of events history is required. In the online operating mode the communcation with the modules is running permanently. The online connection allows e.g. remote door opening from a PC.
Advantages and disadvantages
- simple installation, quick management of the access rights, reader modules functional parameters setting, possibility to combine with APS mini Plus system, remote door opening with a PC
- cannot be combined with APS 400 system, local single-user solution
APS Administrator
The access rights can be also managed with APS Administrator, which allows integration with other TF systems (APS mini Plus and APS 400). For initial settings of the reader module parameters the APS Reader program is used.
The connection assumes a permanent connection of the system to a server. The communication at a BUS is running permanently. The client - server architecture of this SW solution enables managing the access rights from other computers in the network.
Advantages and disadvantages
- transparent access rights management, possibility to combine with APS mini Plus and APS 400 systems, multi-user SW solution
- more complex installation, functional paramaters setting performed with APS Reader program separately
